Contacting Julian Knight is currently restricted due to him being incarcerated as a political prisoner of the Victorian State Government in its medium security Loddon Prison in Castlemaine, located approximately a 1 hour 20 minutes drive north-west of Melbourne.

This website provides a contact means to communicate with Julian. Constructive messages are welcome; others will be ignored.

Julian’s relocation (a 4th third time since 1987) this time from the UK-based private G4S plc-run Port Phillip Prison after a 20 year stint, is because the Victorian State (Labor) Government has deemed such privately run prisons to be corrupted after a series of recent governmental enquiries in Victoria and Queensland and Western Australia. Also due to public interest concerns about inadequate oversight and human rights issues.

Port Phillip Prison in Truganina is set to be permanently closed in by the end of 2025. Julian Knight as a political prisoner of the Victorian Government had to go somewhere. He has been long deemed downgraded to ‘medium security’ risk and so medium security Loddon Prison was the obvious choice for relocation; other than that his due parole and freedom! In addition, G4S which has run Port Phillip Prison privately for corporate profit since 1997, was in 2021 acquired by Allied Universal (headquartered in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, United States) in a £3.8 billion deal, making Allied Universal the world’s largest private security company, incorporating G4S’s extensive operations in over 90 countries, including Australia.

Letter writers are cautioned that each postal letter (in and out) of Port Phillip Prison is first opened, screened, scanned and censored by G4S prison management, before the letter is deemed to be uncontaminated and suitable to be passed on to the subject prisoner or outside recipient.

Incoming letters are routinely rejected and scribed ‘Returned to Sender’, even without the envelope being opened by G4S prison management, which in our view seriously constitutes a breach of fundamental human rights.

3. Personal Visit?

Mr Knight is currently incarcerated as a Political Prisoner of the Victorian State Government in Loddon Prison, situated on the outskirts of the central Victorian historic town of Castlemaine.

Visiting Loddon Prison

Visitors must first be registered on the subject prisoner’s visitor list. This means that the prisoner must first invite a particular visitor to meet in person well in advance through the prison ‘s administrative protocols and process. Loddon Prison is a medium security prison.

Prisoners are permitted a limited number of visits per week depending on their sentence status, contract level and ID status. No further visits are permitted once a prisoner has used up his quota for the week. Note: the timings may change over time so first check above website for updates, since the below information we provide may well change over time.

All visitors to Loddon Prison are mandatorily subject to many security conditions when visiting this prison.

It is a good idea to contact the prison before you leave to visit to make sure you are on the visiting list for that day. You can take a train to the Castlemaine Railway Station (approximately 3 hours) then take the bus to Chewton via Loddon Prison (no. 6 bus). Travel on the bus is free when you show your valid V/line ticket. You can also take a taxi. If you want to walk it will take you about 40 minutes from the Railway Station.

4. Phoning Julian?

Julian Knight does not have a personal phone in his prison cell. Pity. He’d be well busy with media like dealing with the aging John Silvester at The Age.

The switchboard phone number of Loddon Prison is (03) 9217 7200, however this is not a switchboard for prisoners, so this is not a recommended contact option.

5. No Tunnels or Day Release privileges

As with Julian’s previous incarcerated tours of duty of which he has outlasted (Tour #1: ‘Pentridge Tour‘; Tour #2 ‘Barwon Tour‘, Tour #3: ‘Port Phillip Tour‘). His current Tour #4 ‘Loddon Tour‘ up there in historic prison town Castlemaine, despite being a model political prisoner, Julian Knight OBE continues to be denied Parole, Day Release choices to see friends and family or even shop locally.

He recently had his order of gym gear ‘returned to sender’ along with a swanky pair of Mark Brandon (alias “Chopper”) Read sunnies.

Julian Knight, having duly served 27 years sentence in 1988 by the Supreme Court of Victoria’s for his immediately confessed mass crime, in 2014 unelected politician Denis Napthine usurped the judiciary and illegally imposed indefinite detention. Instantly in 2014 Julian Knight became not a criminal, but a political prisoner of the Victorian Government No. 49821 held at Port Phillip Prison | formerly Army Corps of Staff Cadet No. 5266 at the Royal Military College Duntroon | formerly Australian Army Reserve Trooper No. 3204059.

*Soldier: We consider the title of Soldier to be a noble profession the moment a civilian signs up to serve Country, followed by training, experience and sacrifice in battle. So we duly grammatise it with a capital ‘S’. ADF personnel (whether a ‘Soldier’, ‘Sailor’, ‘Aircrew’, or any other ADF role, from Day 1 to serve their country (Australia) instantly becomes a special member of our vital Australian Defence Force.

From Day 1 sign-up, each Army recruit deserves this capital title ‘Soldier’ despite pre-trained, pre- experienced, pre-active service, pre-medal recipient, pre-veteran, pre-wounded, pre-KIA.

Such military ‘sign up’ is so much a distinct and a higher calling that most other professions / trades.

Let no person who has ever ‘signed up to serve their country‘ ever hold any doubt of their rare courage to serve. We Australians as CIVVY citizens hold a profound civilian duty to respect and be proud of what these relative few committed souls put their lives in harm’s way and continue to champion and protect our fortunate way of life in Australia. They proudly follow in the legacy of our forebears of similar ilk who hard-fought and sacrificed.

Sadly increasingly these are forgotten brave heroes. History repeats. Sadly, negative and dangerous mis-training of those so committed risks outcomes like Hoddle Street (1987) and Full Metal Bullet (1987). Both a bully bad year of Soldier negative recruitment training.
