Prisoner Rights Denied

Since Julian’s Knight’s arrest on Sunday 8th August 1987 and his immediate confession to his Hoddle Street shooting spree, he has been incarcerated.  This has involved various mandatory transfers to different prisons for various reasons such as:

(A)  Prison closure (transferred from closing government-run old Pentridge Prison to government-run Barwon Prison in 1994);  (transferred from closing privately-run Port Phillip Prison to government-run Loddon Prison in 2025)

(B)  Victorian Government Policy change with his transfer from over-crowded and problematic government-run Barwon Prison in 2005 to the privately-run Port Phillip Prison (opened in 1997)

At each of these prisons, Julian Knight has experienced various forms of denial of basic human rights as a criminal prisoner.  More recently since 2014 he continues to be indefinitely detained as a political prisoner of the Victorian State Government.

Such denials of human rights as a prisoner have for Julian Knight varied by prison.    We provide a link to the timeline of those respective prisons so the reader may better comprehend the background to these encounters.

Incarceration Updates

We subsequently breakdown the denial of Julian Knight’s denial of his basic human rights in chronological order as follows:

[NOTE:  And yes, of course we acknowledge that his victims lost their human rights.  But Victoria doesn’t hang offenders anymore, not since 1967.  This despite the Victorian Liberal politicians backwardly hell bent on persecuting and condemning anyone they don’t like to the extent of enacting legislation to keep Julian Knight incarcerated indefinitely in ursurpation of the judicial authority and Constitutional independence of the Supreme Court of Victoria’s in its 1987 sentencing of Julian Knight.

In the very ‘Victorian’ State of Victoria, conservative politics and their media lackeys (or are they masters) align to the narrow-minded view that prisons are for punishment only and reject any thought of rehabilitation.   They would have hanging re-instated.]

<<The last man hanged in Victoria was Ronald Ryan (image above) executed on February 3, 1967, for the murder of prison officer George Hodson during an escape from Pentridge Prison. His execution was controversial and sparked widespread public opposition, ultimately leading to the abolition of the death penalty in Victoria in 1975.>>

No wonder the Victorian Liberals remain also in opposition.

Actually, the last man hanged in all of Australia was Ronald Ryan.   This reveals how truly ‘Victorian’ is the political culture the State of Victoria is in Australia.
