Nov-2013: Knight’s Duntroon Bastardisation experiences as an Army Officer Staff Cadet submitted as a shortened ‘Personal Account’ to DART

[NOTE:  The following document is an exact copy of the Personal Account‘ (of Duntroon Bastardisation experiences in 1987) authored by former Army Officer Staff Cadet Julian Knight to the Defence Abuse Response Taskforce (DART) on 26 November  2013.  The original document is a legal annexure document first submitted by Mr Julian Knight to the Defence Abuse Response Taskforce on 26 November 2013.  A ‘Personal Account’ document was one that had a prescribed format to be lodged by a complainant victim of abuse whilst serving with the Australia Defence Force.    Knight’s ‘Personal Account‘ of his abuse whilst at Royal Military College Duntroon was drawn from his initial more detailed formal complaint to DART that he submitted 26th November 2013.

This same document, with additional attachments has been submitted by Mr Julian Knight to the Federal Court of Australia on 20 April 2023 in the pending appeal case of Knight v Defence Force Ombudsman (Federal Court) VID364_2023.

The reproduction of this document in full on this website, has the permission of Mr Julian Knight.  It is 95 pages in length, and as such this website reproduces it in sections in page order of about 10 pages at a time.   Each section may be freely downloaded and printed, as is Julian’s wish.

This website is the only official website of Mr Julian Knight, Victorian political prisoner since 8th May 2014.]

Header Page extract:

Julian Knight’s left forearm in a plaster cast at Duntroon outside Kokoda Company barracks (‘ANZAC Block’). He had been set upon by five senior cadets from Kapyong Company. It was one of many unprovoked instances of Duntroon’s “bishing” culture of junior cadets. (Read ‘Personal Account‘, pp. 21-22).  Thirteen days prior Julian had just turned 19.
