January 2026 in Victoria had drought and experienced heatwave conditions into the 40 degrees centigrade range.
By Wednesday 7th January bushfires had started at various rural locations across Victoria. On Friday afternoon 9th January a bushfire started about 5km north of Harcourt near Stone Reserve just north of Fogartys Gap Road, close to the Walmer CFA Fire Station, but nobody was home. The small town of Harcourt (pop. 1038) is about 10km NNE of Castlemaine where Julian Knight is incarcerated at Loddon Prison, situated on the eastern outskirts of Castlemaine.
By around 11th January the then Ravenswood/Harcourt Bushfire had grown in scale and was spreading southerly towards Castlemaine. So, Corrections Victoria had quite responsibly notified the prisoners of Loddon Prison of the possibility of an emergency evacuation in case of the bushfire imminently threatening Castlemaine. May be he was to go back to Port Phillip Prison for safety – his old haunt?
Where was Corrections Victoria minister Atatürk (Enver Erdoğan) when you need him?
The CFA management were well aware of the risks back in December 2025 and even prior.

The fake news of media about Julian Knight is that haveing been fiorceibel transferred out of closing Port Phillip Prison last September, he is now residing in a quote a government “caravan park” minimum security prison lifestyle, which is crap. To clarify again, he is incarcerated in a cell in medium security Loddon Prison, not in the adjoining minimum Security Middleton Prison.
Well, we now indulge in some counter shenanigans….
So, in regards to prison evacuation options for our Jules, we posit a few evacuation options he could have exercised to reach safe haven away from the bushfire risks.
