Julian Knight’s hospitalisation for Crohn’s Disease pain flare-up

Julian Knight underwent an imposed forced prison transfer by the Victorian State Government’s prison department ‘Corrections Victoria’ on Friday 26th September 2025. It was an annual Victorian public holiday ahead of the AFL Grand Final the following day.  The transfer was from Port Phillip Prison in Melbourne’s outer west suburb of Truganina (Laverton) to Loddon Prison outside the regional town of Castlemaine.

During and since that transfer, Julian reported health problems associated with his bowel, presumed to be historically linked to his medically diagnosed chronic condition of Crohn’s Disease, of which he was first medically diagnosed with back in 1995 at Barwon Prison.  Otherwise fit and healthy, it may well have been due to a poor prison diet, plus substandard medication to treat the condition.

Julian was subsequently transported from Castlemaine to St Vincent’s Hospital’s St Augustine’s correctional heath ward in Fitzroy. St Vincent’s prison health programs reduce re-offending and improve health outcomes by supporting the transition from custody to community. ”   [SOURCE

Julian after a week of treatment was then returned back to Loddon Prison with promised better health outcomes.
