RMC Duntroon officer training perpetuates a dangerous bullying culture

This article was first published 7th March 2012 by a former Army mate of Julian Knight, Staff Cadet Steven Ridd whom at Duntroon trained alongside Knight in the same recruit intake of January 1987.   Staff Cadet Ridd was assigned to the same training Third Class, same training ‘Kokoda Company’, same training 15 Platoon, same training 45 Section as Staff Cadet Knight, and his quarters were just a few down the barracks corridor from Knight on the same grand floor level.  Aside from just one other staff cadet in the January 1987 intake (being Chris Whitting), Steven Ridd was the only other Third Class cadet of the 500 odd who was close to Julian Knight on a daily basis.

The two got to know each other.  They were both from Melbourne, had both attended elite grammar schools in Melbourne and has both served voluntarily and keenly in the respective school cadets.  Both Julian and Steven were both throw in the deep end together at Duntroon January 1987 from Day . This was not just for Army Officer training by day, but also sinisterly subjected to Dunrtoon’s senior cadets’ indoctrinated in-barracks bastardisation by night.

This article was entitled ‘RMC Duntroon officer training perpetuates a dangerous bullying culture’ and published on the then popular politically focused Australian website CanDoBetter.Net under a pseudonym ‘Tigerquoll‘.
